The Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx collectively welcomed Marc Lore and former MLB superstar Alex Rodriguez, who will assume 20% control of the Wolves, to their ownership group on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the NBA’s Board of Governors conducted a vote today to formally approve Lore and Rodriguez as minority shareholders in the Timberwolves on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Rodriguez, who now becomes one of the most recognizable sports executives in the NBA, and Lore reached an agreement with Wolves owner Glen Taylor that will see the pair take majority control of the franchise as time progresses, and the succession plans call for that to come into action by the 2023-2024 season.
“We are pleased to officially welcome Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx family. Together with Marc and Alex, we take another step forward in building a world-class organization both on and off the court.” Taylor said in the official statement.
