Steelers’ Cameron Heyward Could Miss Several Weeks

1 Min Read

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be without one of their defensive captains for an extended period of time as there is growing concern that six-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Cameron Heyward could miss a chunk of the season, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.

Heyward, 34, suffered a groin injury in the first half of the season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers and while injured reserve is an option and would sideline Heyward for four weeks, it’s not a guarantee as the Steelers (0-1) explore their options.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, another one of their renowned NFL journalists, a decision on whether Heyward will undergo surgery hasn’t been made yet and is waiting on another opinion Tuesday.

While the injury doesn’t sound as serious as an Achilles tear, pilonidal cysts, or a broken bone, it is serious enough for the Steelers to worry about Heyward for the long-term in the regular season.
