The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened a 21-day window for veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to return from injured reserve, officially designating him to do so on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
The Steelers now have 21 days to activate Smith-Schuster to the active roster. Smith-Schuster has been on IR since Oct. 16 after he suffered a shoulder injury back in Week 5 and had surgery later that week.
Pittsburgh also activated wide receiver James Washington from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Smith-Schuster, 25, has just 15 catches for 129 yards in an injury-shortened season for the Steelers.
