Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is confident that the NFL season will definitely happen, and believes there will be a way that fans can attend NFL games this season, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
During an interview with CNBC, Ross discussed the NFL season, fans in the stadium and more.
“I think there definitely will be a football season this year,” Ross said during the interview (h/t ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe). “Real question is, will there be fans in the stadium? Right now — today — we’re planning to have fans in the stadium.”
The NFL has released the 2020 schedule, and plans on moving forward with the 2020 season, but has not revealed any plans, or official decisions, as to allowing fans to attend games during the 2020 season.
“We all miss our sports,” Ross said. “The NFL, I think, will be ready to go. I know we’re all looking forward to it. I know I am.”
“We all want to see life back to normal,” Ross said.
Earlier this month, Dolphins’ CEO/president Tom Garfinkel revealed the team’s mock-up plans for how they could allow fans, in a limited capacity, to attend games at Hard Rock Stadium, while adhering to social distancing guidelines, wearing masks, and a number of other alterations from food ordering to entering/exiting the stadium.
